Think Creatively…..

 Think Creatively…..

Use these tools and think creatively!

Believe it can be done.

When we believe something can be done, our mind will find some ways to do it. Believing a solution paves the way to solution.

Eliminate impossible.

Eliminate “impossible”, “won’t work”, “can’t do”, “no use of trying”, from our thinking and speaking vocabularies.

Be receptive to new ideas.

Don’t let tradition paralyze our mind. Be experimental. Try new approaches. Be progressive in everything we do.

“How can I do better?”

There is no limit to self-improvement and a lot of scope for the same. Ask ourselves, “How can I do  better?” Ask ourselves, “How can I do more?” Capacity is a state of mind. Improve the quality of our output; increase the quantity of our output.

Practise asking and listening.

Big people monopolize the listening; small people monopolize the talking. Ask and listen, we will get raw material for reaching sound decisions.

Stretch our mind.

Associate with people who can help us think new ideas. Get stimulated. Mix people of different interests : occupational as well as societal.

Maximize Company’s Performance – by Measuring Employee’s Work Efficiency

Maximize Company’s Performance – by Measuring Employee’s Work Efficiency

Measuring the employee’s work efficiency is essential to maximize the company’s performance. To do so meaningfully, the organization must compare each individual’s performance to a specific set of pertinent standards. Standards provide the necessary reference points that enable you to determine whether the observed data on employee performance is below, matches, or exceeds the standards. Without carefully crafted standards as the basis of your evaluation, it is impossible to realistically and objectively measure the employee’s work efficiency. So it boils down to this: the company’s competitive capacity depends on setting excellent, high, yet achievable standards of each employee.

Effectiveness is doing right things. Efficiency is doing things the right way with the minimum use of time and resources to get the job done properly. In order to do the right thing, you must know what it is. In order to do things the right way, you must first know what the right way is. These are the standards when the organization states them in quantitative, measureable terms.

To be fair to the employees, and to obtain the level of work performance from them that the organization desires, the organization will need to communicate its standards of effectiveness and efficiency to each employee. This should be done well in advance of the time observer measures how well they adhere to those standards.

Who can be a Good Leader?

Good Leader – Who can be a Good Leader?

Only a person whose thoughts, words and deeds are in harmony can become a good and effective leader. Her or his thoughts are pure; their source is not related to lust, anger, attachment, greed, egotism or jealousy. Such leaders say what they think, there is no duplicity in them, and they do what that say, there is no insincerity or hypocrisy in their deeds.

They are straightforward and transparent people in word and deed.

We trust a person whose thoughts, words and deeds are in harmony. It is this type of person who has the potential for becoming a good leader.

We Time – Me Time – Balance our managerial time

We Time – Me Time – Balance our managerial time.

“Life is like juggling crystal balls and rubber balls, and success depends on knowing which is which. My crystal balls are my religion, my faith, my work in this country. Everything else is rubber ball. You can let it drop, wait for a week or month, let it bounce. Life is about choices. Life is about balance.”

All of us have only one life, but we live in three overlapping worlds, our family world, our business word, our social world.

As an entrepreneur or business executive or an employee, we must give our best in two entirely different words. The need of our business; our job and the needs of our family and friends compete for our time and attention. An all expect the very best from us.

To enjoy both the rewards of business success and family fulfillment, we need to constantly work to keep our balance. To successfully tackle the challenges of a fast-growing company, we need all the personal resources that come from balanced life.

“How do we develop a balanced business personality?”

Our executive actions are guided by clear plans that continually balance and rebalance all the dimensions of successful living.

·         Executive success : Servant Leadership, management skills, and career development

·         Loving Relationship: Serving family, friends and the needy.

·         Healthy Lifestyle: Regular exercise, good diet, and regular medical care

·         Emotional Well-being: Stress management, recreation, and psychological stability.

·         Spiritual Maturity: Ethical Character, commitment to ultimate values, peace with God, and devoting oneself to life’s greatest spiritual priorities.

Servant Leadership

 Lead to Success

“We are beginning to see that traditional autocratic and hierarchical modes of leadership are slowly yielding to a newer mode-one that attempts to simultaneously enhance the personal growth of workers and improve the quality and caring of our many institutions through a combination of team work and community, personal involvement in decision making, and ethical and caring behavior. This emerging approach to leadership and service is called Servant – Leadership.”

Leadership seems to be the marshaling of skills possessed by a majority but used by minority. But it’s something that can be learned by anyone, taught to everyone denied to no one.

Effective leaders master four major \management skills through their training and experience.

1.       Planning involves selecting a source of action and specifying how the action will be implemented.

2.       Organizing involves creatively structuring the company’s workforce to maximum performance.

3.       Directing and motivating involves mobilizing people to carry out plans and run routine operations.

4.       Controlling involves ensuring that the plan is actually carried out and is appropriately modified as circumstances change.

Successful executive leaders communicate their vision so clearly and persuasively that others adopt that vision as part of their own. The more others follow you, the greater you influence and the stronger your leadership. Admirable leadership boils down to effectively influencing others to attain a worthy goal.

A great leader has

·         Has a worthy vision for the company

·         Formulates and implements excellent strategies

·         Brings out the best in his or her workforce

·         Gets things done effectively

·         Seizes opportunities

·         Create a sustainable competitive advantage

·         Launces new businesses

·         Builds organization

·         Masters important details that could make or break the company

·         Permeates every action with consistently high ethical standards.

Knowing that the leader’s most noble work role is to serve other, the most effective executives promotes fairness, compassion, listening, teamwork, trust, integrity, and the proper use of power and empowerment.

Servant leadership is very practical philosophy that teachers that greatness is a secondary by-product of supporting other people’s needs first. Great leaders create “win-win” conditions in their companies, their stockholders, customers, employees and suppliers.

What is Character?

 What is Character?

Each individual is a bundle of virtues and weaknesses of head and heart. The individuality resulting from this balance sheet of good and bad qualities is that person’s character.

Character stands for self-discipline, loyalty, readiness to accept responsibility and willingness to admit mistakes. It stands for selflessness, modesty, humility, willingness to sacrifice when necessary and faith in God.

A person of character is described as:

·         An honest person

·         A person with a sense of duties and obligations of his position, whatever it may be

·         A person who tells truth

·         A person who gives to others their due

·         A person considerate to the weak

·         A person who has principles and stands by them

·         A person not too elated by good fortune and not too depressed by bad

·         A person who is loyal

·         A person who can be trusted

Value your Workforce

Value your Workforce

“The success of business is equal to the sum of the successes of its employees.”

Not only is it important is it important to hire the best employees, but it is also important to treat them with the level of respect that makes them want to stay to advance your company. Keeping highly motivated and productive employees is a key ingredient of a recipe for business success.

Good employees are always looking for more ways to be more efficient at their job and appreciate praise and recognition for their contribution to the organization. They like to be able to see how their efforts help the company succeed.

When you genuinely value your employees and fulfill their needs, they are more inclined to contribute to the success of your business. The more openly you express your appreciation for their contribution to your company, the better their performance will be.

One of the most difficult tasks for the managers is letting well-trained employees go-lying them off during downsizing. Some say that there is no way to guarantee that no one will be laid off. Or has some bench-mark level company found a way?

“The biggest part in trusting employees is to get us to do the smart thing. The company’s hire-for-life culture creates loyal employees who stay with the company through thick and thin.”

Equation for Happiness

Equation for Happiness

‘Pursuit of Happiness’ is the major goal of human life. Indeed, this goal has been enshrined almost as a fundamental right in the Constitution of United States of America. The explanation for the happy side effect lies in the following equation for happiness, which compresses the entire wisdom of the world.

To understand the equation for happiness, it is important to fully comprehend the impact of desires of human life. “Desire is the first evidence of our consciousness; we are born into sympathy and antipathy, wishing and willing.” As we grow, our likes and dislikes become stronger and our desire for things that we like keeps on increasing. We get deluded into believing that things satisfying our senses will give us happiness. We seek music we like that satisfies our ears, smooth and soft things that yield pleasure to our skin, things of beauty that appeal to our eyes, food and drink that are tasty to the tongue, fragrance that appeals to the nose, wealth, property, name, recognition, status and power that we feel will make our mind happy. The truth is that uncontrolled desires “fog the intellect, poverty vision; desires create a mirage where there was none before; they clothe things with desirability. To escape from the clutches of desires – which give birth to the brood of anger, malice, greed, envy, falsehood etc., - one has to cleanse one’s consciousness.”

“If all the pleasures in the world are equal to one unit, then the joy, happiness and bliss which is within each human being and can be experienced by renouncing desires is equal to 10 units.”

-Taitteriya Upanishad II, Stanza 8

Strategic Planning - Mission Statement

“Do we want to be in existence five to ten years from now, and if we do, what steps do we need to take?”

“Strategic Planning” focuses on definite long or mid-term goals.

“It is more important to do what is strategically right than what is immediately profitable.” – a thought provoking answer can be found in words of Philip Kotler, a renowned business consultant.

Highly effective strategic planning begins with writing a clear and concise mission statement that defines why your company exists. The best mission statements are typically guided by a clear vision of what the company can become in 10 to 20 years. The mission statement helps managers, employees, and customers to visualize a shared purpose and direction that enables the company to realize its vision.

What is your company’s mission?

Is it merely to make a monetary profit or does it also exist to provide a unique product or service to your customers?

Mission statements that enable companies to stay in existence for the long term will specify how a company’s products o services will add value to its customers. The very best mission statements describe how the company will create a “win-win situation” for the company’s owners, employees, suppliers, customers and the broader community.

A good mission statement clarifies the meaning and purpose of your organization – that is , “why” your company exists. The “what” of your company consist in your products and/or services and the “how” is provided by your business strategies.

Each employee can envision how his or her work is a positive contribution to realizing the vision and mission of the company.

Michelangelo once said, ”I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.” Talk about a man with vision.

“We aim above the mark to hit the mark”
